Museo del Paesaggio

Lago Maggiore

A rich collection of works of art displayed in a charming historic building.

The Museo del Paesaggio (Landscape Museum), housed in the evocative spaces of the historic Palazzo Viani Dugnani, a Baroque building constructed in the second half of the 17th century by the Viani family, displays the most significant collection of works of art on Lake Maggiore. The exhibition illustrates the link between the artistic heritage and the cultural landscape of villas and gardens that, between the 19th and 20th centuries, made the area an attractive destination for international artists and patrons.
The sculpture collection features over 300 works, mainly plaster casts, by the sculptor Paolo Troubetzkoy, and a group of 53 works by Arturo Martini.
The painting collection includes works by Daniele Ranzoni, Luigi Litta, Federico Ashton, Achille Tominetti, Eugenio Gignous, Guido Boggiani, Arnaldo Ferraguti, Vittore Grubicy De Dragon, Carlo Fornara, Cesare Maggi, Guido Cinotti, Siro Penagini and Mario Tozzi.
The art gallery's exhibition is enriched by two large 16th-century paintings by Paolo Veronese, recently loaned to the museum by the Piedmont Region.
The museum's cultural programme includes a rich offering of events, meetings and temporary exhibitions throughout the year, and the admission ticket always includes a visit to the permanent collections and temporary exhibitions.
It is also possible to purchase a single ticket that includes admission to the Museum and the Botanical Gardens of Villa Taranto.
