Casa del Cappellano “Don Amedeo Ruscetta”

Valli dell'Ossola

Museum Network: Associazione Musei d'Ossola

Next to the parish church, is the Chaplain's House, a building dating back to 1607. The house has recently been restored to house a museum dedicated to sacred art and rural civilisation, inaugurated in 2015 and named after Don Amedeo Ruscetta, the "Viper Priest."

The museum is spread over three floors. The first floor is dedicated to peasant civilisation: tools and work utensils such as the cobbler's table, the blacksmith's table, a loom for weaving hemp, and tools for processing milk. The second floor is dedicated to sacred art: one room contains the ancient dresses of the women of Croveo, next to the "cavagnette", upright compositions worn by the girls during the procession of the village festival. The collection of sacred vestments, some of which date back to the 17th century, is of great interest. The upper floor is dedicated to Don Amedeo Ruscetta's memory and viper work.

Accessibility: THE MUSEUM IS HOUSED IN A HISTORIC BUILDING AND IS SPREAD OVER SEVERAL FLOORS WITHOUT A LIFT.
Schools: AFTER CONTACTING THE ORGANISERS; BY RESERVATION ONLY
