It was the sixth edition of the Orta Festival (2005), when the unique setting of the Basilica of the Island of San Giulio was exceptionally granted for a concert, which we emphasize, continues to be extraordinary.
The opening concert of Orta Festival does not want to be a social event and it is not. The protagonist is Music and only Music.
And it is with the music of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, leading actor of Viennese classicism, one of the greatest geniuses of all time, that this edition of the Festival, now in its XXIII, takes its cue.
After listening, as Mozart himself writes, to "a short Adagio for 2 violins, viola and bass for a Fugue for 2 pianos which I wrote a long time ago" and which he transcribed for string orchestra (K 546), it will be the moment of the most universally known work of this author
and that Orta Festival has never proposed. The Serenade for strings K 525 "Eine kleine Nachtmusik", in which simplicity of the thematic material, refinement of the instrumental writing merge in that balance which constitutes the deepest essence of Mozart's art.
The evening will close with the performance of another famous Serenata, the one op. 48 by Tchaikovsky, a piece that reflects the author's boundless veneration for the style of the late 18th century and in particular for Mozart. The strings of the Orta Festival Orchestra conducted by Amedeo Monetti will once again be the protagonists of a splendid evening, an opportunity to listen to some "evergreen".

Tickets for concerts in the Basilica of San Giulio’s Island, 1st, 2nd and 16th of July it will be sold in Orta San Giulio - Piazza Motta,
near to the ferry landing point from 7.30 p.m.
