A welcome return to Orta Festival is that of Dimitri Ashkenazy, already first clarinet of the Mahler Chamber Orchestra and invited as soloist by prestigious orchestras all over the world and in the chamber field partner of artists such as: Antonio Meneses, Barbara Bonney, Jeremy Menuhin and of course his brother Vovka and his father Vladimir Ashkenazy.
He gathered around him colleagues of equal stature, the pianist Raffaella Damaschi already at his side on several occasions and the bassoonist Michele Fattori who is already a member of the Karajan Akademie in Berlin, has played with the Orchestra Mozart and Claudio Abbado and collaborates as principal bassoon with the London Symphony Orchestra and the Mahler Chamber Orchestra.
They will make us discover unprecedented correspondences in an articulated program that combines the 4 Pieces op. 5 for clarinet and piano by Alban Berg, a supreme example of expressionistic language in the two Sonatas, the one for clarinet and piano op. 167 and that for bassoon and piano op. 168, by the
octogenarian Saint-Saëns.
Our three artists will take their leave with the performance of Glinka’s Trio Pathétique.
Composed in Italy, it was performed for the first time in 1883 with the composer at the piano and two instrumentalists from the Orchestra of the Teatro alla Scala.
