From June 28th to 30th 2024, it took place the Instagram Tour nr. 3 dedicated to the "Historical Mountain Routes", organized by the Distretto Turistico dei Laghi in collaboration with the Community IG WORLDCLUB ITALIA, a National Non-Profit Community whose main mission is to promote the territory and its excellence through Instagram and other digital media; with more than 2.6 million followers, it also represents the largest Italian digital reality linked to the world of digital photographic communication and mobile photography.
The focus of the tour was the Via del Sempione, highlighting the exciting and immense history that has made this important route since ancient times.
On Saturday, the tour focused on the City of Domodossola with the first stop at the Sacro Monte Calvario, paying particular attention to the figure of Baron Stockalper, who in the seventeenth century was considered the "King of the Simplon". The second stop was Palazzo San Francesco with a visit to the Gian Giacomo Galletti Civic Museums and a focus on the history of the Simplon Tunnel and the first trans-Alpine flight, right through the Simplon Pass completed by Geo Chavez aboard his Bleriot XI. During Sunday, the IG Tour focused mainly on the route starting from Crevoladossola with stops at the main points of interest still visible today: the Napoleonic Bridge of Crevoladossola, the Ancient Bridge over the Diveria stream, the entrance to the Simplon Tunnel, the military sentry boxes and the historic center of Varzo with the ancient stop at the foot of the medieval tower as well as the vestibule of the parish church commissioned by Baron Stockalper himself during the period of his splendor.

The purpose of the tour was to intrigue the thousands of followers by inviting them to discover this itinerary firsthand, stopping to visit places and villages of immense cultural and historical interest.
Historical, architectural and landscape details captured by the attentive and professional lenses of the Instagramers were transformed into interesting stories, storytelling, reels and posts and re-shared on the Instagram page of the Distretto Turistico dei Laghi ( @lagomaggiore_turismo ) obtaining hundreds of views and interactions among followers.
