Casa della Resistenza

Lago Maggiore

The Casa della Resistenza (THE HOUSE OF RESISTANCE) is located in a monumental area of 16,000 square metres, adjacent to the place where the Nazis shot 43 partisans on 20 June 1944. In this area, called "Parco della Memoria e della Pace" (Park of Memory and Peace), several monuments are dedicated to the Resistance and the local history of 1943/45.
The building, which covers an area of around 1,600 square metres, has a gallery for temporary exhibitions, a multifunctional hall for conferences, meetings, presentations, and shows, and rooms for educational activities. There is also a Documentation Centre, which houses the documentary and photographic heritage of the Resistance, and the 'Aldo Aniasi' Library, a contemporary history library.
Exhibitions and displays are periodically set up and inaugurated within the museum area, freely accessible to the public, and fixed installations to explore the dramatic events of June 1944 and the history of the Resistance in the area. The Association's many educational and dissemination activities must add to this.

The Casa della Resistenza is freely accessible to everyone; the building on one floor has no architectural barriers and is equipped with adequate facilities.
As part of its statutory activities, the Casa della Resistenza offers various educational services: guided tours, lectures, and workshops are just some of the proposals the association reserves for students and teachers of all levels. The visits last about 90 minutes for a recommended number of 70/80 students.
