A nice walk from Arona to “San Carlone”, the enormous statue of St. Charles

Type of route: mixed (asphalt, trail, dirt road)

Water: Playground in Arona, San Carlo square.

Starting from the Touristic Office of Arona proceed north on Lungolago Caduti di Nassirya for 300 meters.
Cross the bridge and continue on Corso Guglielmo Marconi for about 580 mt until you reach Piazza del Popolo.
Once you get there, you will have to take Via Pertossi and proceed for 150 mt.
Turn right on Via San Carlo and go straight for 130 mt, then turn left on Via A. Cantoni and continue for 260 mt.
Turn right and go straight up on Via Partigiani for 150 mt.
Turn left to remain on Via Partigiani and continue for 130 mt, then stay on the right and proceed for other 140 mt.
You will reach a stairway (CAUTION: the stairway is particularly steep and in case of rain or humidity it could be slippery.
In alternative, you go around it by taking the paved road, but pay attention to the cars because there is no sidewalk).
Once you arrive at the top of the stairway turn right and go straight on Via Partigiani for 400 mt towards Via Belvedere.
On the crossroad turn left and right after that turn right on Via Michelangelo Buonarroti.
Proceed for 350 mt and take the path on your left.
Continue on the path for 300 mt, turn right and continue for another 100 mt.
You will find yourself on Via Reg. San Carlo and after 75 m you will reach the Colossus of San Carlo Borromeo.
