Description of the itinerary
From the centre of Colazza, after crossing the bridge at the old wash house, you can proceed on the path marked E2, which leads first to the source of the River Vina and then to the chapel known as the Capella del Vago, from where you can head to Gignese, following the ridge marked with a V, which leads to Alpe Verdina; for the return journey you can follow the path marked E4, which in less than an hour will take you back to behind Colazza and, after crossing the river Tiaschella, head to the chapel on the Via di Fosseno, from where the different paths unravel. From Colazza you can also reach Pisano on foot via a path through lush woods. The itinerary is that of Sentiero Novara, marked F1, which after passing through the territory of Pisano, leads to Fosseno, a hamlet of Nebbiuno; this path also includes a deviation for Sass Priateca, an erratic mass just a 20-minute walk away: dates back to the glacial period and is located in an area where many engravings of Celtic origin were found. According to legend, the devil used to sit against the rock, leaving traces on it over time. However, if you want to embark on a nature walk directly from Nebbiuno, we suggest that you head to the wash house in the hamlet of Fosseno and then, choosing the path F6 or F7, walk up to the panoramic peak of Mount Cornaggia, at an altitude of about 800 metres and, descending through the Boccioli and Bosco pastures, you will reach the slopes of Lake Orta. Those who want a place for a quiet picnic can stop along the path marked F6 to Lavarina, just a 30-minute walk from the old wash house in Fosseno; the wash house is just one of the distinctive architectural elements in this village with narrow streets and stone arches, which has linked its name to the tradition of festivals and good food.
