Frescoes and murals magically appear in the streets of Pogno, Armeno, Legro di Orta San Giulio and Quarna Sopra, making these villages part of the national 'I Paesi Dipinti' circuit. Real open-air museums that, thanks to the contribution of painters and street artists, keep village memories alive by contextualising them in the contemporary urban fabric. 'La Via del Cinema' in Legro brings together more than 60 murals dedicated to films set on Lake Orta. The common thread running through the painted walls of Pogno is water, the emblem of the local economy based on the industrial production of taps and their accessories. Cuisine, history and mountains are the predominant themes in Armeno's works painted in oil on canvas, then photographed and digitised. Finally, the colourful murals on the houses of Quarna Sopra tell passers-by stories and local legends between imagination and reality.
