Fondazione Calderara

The Calderara Foundation of Contemporary Art is located in the hamlet of Vacciago in the municipality of Ameno, a charming town on the eastern shore of Lake Orta.

This foundation, commissioned by the lombard painter Antonio Calderara who, in the municipality of Ameno lived the last years of his life, includes about 330 works including paintings, reliefs, sculptures and modern graphics. Of these, fifty-six works have been carried out by Antonio Calderara, while the remaining is part of a collection of artists with international fame, all bound by friendship with Calderara. Among them, it should be noted the authors of the caliber of Manzoni, Pomodoro, Fontana, Klein, De Soto and many other contemporaries artists who have marked the history of twentieth-century avant-garde. The Foundation is located in the last house of the artist and which, beyond precious architectural motifs and a particularly beautiful landscape overlooking the lake, even an entrance garden of rare beauty.
