In Verbania, on 28 and 29 March, the 54th edition of Mostra della Camelia!

In Verbania, on 28 and 29 March, the 54th edition of Mostra della Camelia returns. It involves a tour of the 300 varieties of camellia, of different colours, shapes and sizes, which grow in the historic gardens of the city and the surrounding area, as well as on display in the stunning grounds of Villa Giulia, on the shores of Lago Maggiore. You can expect guided tours by experts (booking required - Municipality of Verbania Tourist Office Tel. 0323 503249) around the magnificent parks of Villa Taranto, Isola Madre, Villa Rusconi Clerici, Villa Giuseppina, Villa Anelli, and motorboat tours so you can admire private gardens from the lake, a plant exhibition organised by the “Consorzio Fiori Tipici del Lago Maggiore”, tea tasting events (made from camellia shoots), book sales and floral themed gifts, and a children's workshop.
This year the main theme, in collaboration with the formazzina community, is the fascinating Walser culture, a people of Valaisan origin who first crossed the Swiss border in 1200 and settled in the Western Alps.
Thanks to the collaboration between the Municipality of Verbania and the Italian Camellia Society, in spring 2022 Verbania will host the World Conference of the International Camellia Society.
