ORTA SAN GIULIO - Orta festival 2021: Cello Recital

Cello Recital
Domenica 11.7
Orta S.Giulio, Chiesa S. Maria Assunta, ore 21.15

Enrico Bronzi - violoncello
Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750)
Suite V BWV 1011 in do minore
per violoncello solo
György Ligeti (1923-2006)
Sonata per viola sola
(trascrizione per violoncello solo di Enrico Bronzi)

The audience of Orta Festival knows well Enrico Bronzi an allround artist.
All the most important concert halls of Europe, USA, South America and Australia (Carnegie Hall & Lincoln Center of New York, Philharmonic of Berlin, Konzerthaus of Vienna, Mozarteum of Salzburg, Philharmonic of Cologne, Herkulessaal of Munich, Philharmonic of St. Petersburg, Wigmore Hall & Queen Elizabeth Hall of London, Teatro Colon of Buenos Aires) have hosted Enrico Bronzi’s concerts.
He presents a program that will put in opposition the monumental V Suite for solo cello by Johann Sebastian Bach to a likewise monumental opera composed by György Ligeti between 1991 and 1994. The Sonata for solo viola in the transcription for solo cello by the same Bronzi. A piece in six movements (Hora lungà, Loop, Facsar, Prestissimo con sordino, Lamento, Chaconne chromatique) This Sonata moves away from that for solo cello, composed 40 years before, but it represents as well an important turning point, mostly embracing a model reminding for some aspects the Baroque sonata.
