THE PROGRAMME

In 2019, the 58th edition of the Stresa Festival will be held during the summer, as usual. The first part will be from 14 to 23 July, with nine concerts, and the second part from 23 August to 8 September, with 17 evening shows.
Gianandrea Noseda celebrates his 20th year as the Artistic Director, and as he has done in some other editions, he is planning a new line of shows that feature several disciplines. “Discovering the Present” is the new title of the collection of 26 concerts: foreign and Italian symphonic orchestras and internationally acclaimed ensembles and soloists will be featured during the event, which remains rooted in its tradition, history and commitment that set it apart each year. At the same time, the tradition is supplemented by an expansion of repertoire and musical genres.
Some time ago, the festival began to include other forms of art as well: the concerts on the agenda will also include dance, cinema, literature and multimedia content.
In 2019, guests will also have thematic areas that group most of the shows together: “Jazz in Trio”, “Tra Classico e Neoclassico”, “Bach nostro contemporaneo”, “Tra sacro e profano”, “Musica e letteratura”, “Musica e Arte” and “Musica e Cinema” (“Jazz Trios”, “From Classical to Neoclassical”, “Bach, Our Contemporary”, “Sacred and Profane”, “Music and Literature”, “Music and Art”, and “Music and Cinema”). There will also be a contemporary dance performance, meetings with writers and art critics, concert lessons, themed musical evenings about historical figures, premiere performances, concerts on the Borromeo Islands and an evening dedicated to the Accademia di Canto with a concert by its Masterclass students.
In addition to a section dedicated to jazz, which will be one of the strongest components in July, there will be visual elements to enhance live performances: showings of black and white silent movies or electronic “animations” of artwork from the 1900s, or virtual choreography. Having a visual show to complement a concert has become a mark of style for the Stresa Festival.
These evening presentations will be held in Stresa, Verbania, the Borromeo Islands, the Eremo di Santa Caterina del Sasso in Leggiuno and Villa Ponti in Arona.
Prices for the performances vary, and there are also different subscriptions based on either location or type: Palazzo dei Congressi with symphonic orchestra music, jazz, evenings at the Eremo di Santa Caterina del Sasso.
Under 26 discounts are also available for young people: € 10.00 per person with the Music-P@ss and € 5.00 per person for groups of 4 friends with the Company-P@ss.
The ticket office opening times will be online starting the first week in April (info: www.stresafestival.eu).
