Among the tourist attractions related to the town of Arona, there is also Villa Ponti.
This important villa was built by Bartolomeo Pertossi, rich businessman and supporter of Napoleon I, around the year 1760. For this reason, Villa Ponti (which takes, however, its name from the engineer Gian Giacomo Ponti, the founder of STIPEL and born in this house) hosted, among others, the same Napoleon I when returned from his Egyptian campaign.
Despite many changes and many architectural alterations made over the years, Villa Ponti still preserves its original charm. The baroque facade has a fine ashlar in the area on the ground floor, elegant wrought-iron grate, and a monumental entrance softened by the presence of balconies. Internally, the villa has many fine, valuable and preserved rooms. At last, significant and worthy of note is his garden.
Today, Villa Ponti is an important museum.
