Villa Faraggiana

This building in neo-classical style was planned in 1855 by the engineer Antonio Busser from Galliate for Alessandro Faraggiana, a senator from Novara.
The villa is surrounded by a park of more than sixty hectares, which is rich in essences.
The impossing front is embellished with eleven busts representing famous Italian people and realised by Giosuè Argenti in Viggiù stone; there is also a gable personifying Fame. In the first half of the 20th century the villa contained a zoological garden with also a zoological and ethnographical museum inside the wide chalet on the top of the hill.
Nowadays it contains a convalescence place kept by religious women.

The Villa is usually closed to visitors, except in special occasions. For further information contact the Municipality of Meina.
