The museum was inaugurated on September 4, 1988 with the name of "CASA MUSEO RAGGRUPPAMENTO DIVISIONE PATRIOTI ALFREDO DI DIO" by some former Blu Partisans, so named because they wore a blue scarf around their neck.
Thanks to the contributions by important protagonists of the Resistance, first among them Eugenio Cefis, the last Commander of the Valtoce Division, the Group purchased the building from the Antiglio family, set up the museum with the help of its volunteers and later, on March 25, 1992, transferred the property to the Municipality of Ornavasso reserving for itself the management.
Ornavasso was selected as the seat of the Museum because it was the birthplace of the Valtoce Division and the building was hit by a mortar shot by the Fascists. In the Resistance Museum are kept documents, manuscripts, photos and finds that testify to the Division’s way of life during those times.
