The Val Formazza is an Alpine valley belonging to Val d'Ossola and placed in the province of Verbano Cusio Ossola, on the border with Switzerland, along the river Toce.
The main town in the valley is Formazza (Pomatt), which hosts a community Walser.
The valley is home to numerous artificial dams, the most important of which is the dam of Morasco, 565 meters long and 55 meters high, with a capacity of 17,320,000 cubic meters. All dams are owned dell'Enel and are used for the production of hydroelectricity.
