The flowers way

The Strada dei Fiori (the Flower Road) is an innovative project born in spring 2004 based on an idea of the Distretto Turistico dei Laghi and the VCO Province aimed at promoting the image of Lake Maggiore, Lake of Orta and the Valli Ossolane as destinations of great botanical and naturalistic interest. With its temperate and humid climate, Lake Maggiore represents a natural environment, unique in Italy, ideal for the cultivation of many specimens of ornamental plants. Here one can admire rare species of camellias, rhododendrons of unique dimensions, azaleas bushes of infinite nuances in addition to mimosas, hydrangeas, maples, magnolias and conifers.
Four itineraries are available from March to September: the camelias lane, the azaleas and rhododendron alleys and the road of the parks.
The routes are developed around the most ancient and rare varieties of “Lake Maggiore typical flowers” and the territory botanical jewels scattered around the historical gardens, mountain parks, nurseries and points of sale.
The itineraries may be covered in one or more days, individually or with tours accompanied by expert guides, organized by Distretto Turistico dei Laghi during the blooming season.
