First edition for this new music festival in the Ossola Region. "Ossola Music Festival", three dates from October 28th 2011 to January 21st 2012 in the Theatre „La Fabbrica“ of Villadossola (Ossola Valley).

The Culture Office of „Comunità Montana Valli dell’Ossola“ in collaboration with the Tourist General Office „Distretto Turistico dei Laghi, Monti e Valli“, the Foundation „Banca di Intra Onlus“, the Municipality of Villadossola and the Cultural Centre "La Fabbrica" organizes an interesting series of concerts dedicated to contemporary music.

Music of high quality for large public with particular attention to young people: this is the aim of the festival.
Therefore prices are very cheap: tickets cost 35 € (three nights special price), 15 € (single concert) and 10 € (children til 10 years old).

The program:

Festival ouverture on Friday, October 28th with the group “Mishkalè” and their "music on the road" from East Europe.
On Friday, November 25th the group “Chicago Stompers” and some American orchestra music from the 20s and 30s. This repertoire will be performed with a personal and ironic stile.
End on Saturday, January 21st with “A time remembered”, amazing tribute to Bill Evans by the group “Roberto Mattei 8tet”. Bill Evans is an important American pianist of contemporary music (not only jazz, but also classic and commercial ones), which is orientated to a very elegant playing style.

On LAKE MAGGIORE
Walking routes on the lake or along the Vergante and High Verbano hills, but also visit possibilities of places rich in art and culture, for example the Romanesque SS. Gervasio and Protasio Parrish Church in the beautiful town Baveno. Admire too the Liberty architecture of several private and public buildings on the lake.

On LAKE ORTA
Discovery of the Romanesque S. Giulio Basilica on the magic and mystic Island in the middle of the lake, the antique „Palazzotto“ Palace (1582) in the medieval village of Orta S. Giulio and a lot of small museums of the circuit Ecomuseum of Lake Orta and Mottarone with exhibitions dedicated to old jobs and traditions - i.e. the Wood-Turning Art Museum in Pettenasco, the Stone-Cutters Museum in Madonna del Sasso, the Hotellerie Museum in Armeno and the Tap Museum in San Maurizio d’Opaglio. The Ecomuseum offers also the possibility of experiencing nice literary walkings among places having inspired in the past artists and writers such as Montale, de Balzac, Soldati and Rodari.

Up and down in the AREA
Different Gastronomic Festivals are protagonists of the winter offer in the territory: “Territori in Cucina” for instance is an opportunity to know and taste our typical products until March 2012 in restaurants of both provinces Novara and Verbano-Cusio-Ossola.

Even simpler, here you will easily find a general well-being in Spa-hotels or in provincial villages of Novara and Verbania districts - for example, a hot chocolate in historical cafes or some shopping in the boutiques of town centres.
And why not thinking to the New Year’s Eve on the lake shore or on board of historical boats? ...This is a dream that can come true for everyone!

Between culture and current affairs, local history and sociological analysis: a new edition of cultural meetings, that is „Incontri Culturali“, is going to begin in Stresa on Lake Maggiore.

8 interesting appointments until March 16th with experts, specialists and artists, organised by the Culture Department of the Municipality of Stresa.

On Friday, November 4th: “L’architettura nella pittura di paesaggio”or the architecture in landscape painting during centuries. With writer and art critic Giulio Martinoli.
On November 18th: a woman protagonist of the Renaissance in Stresa, Anna Maria Bolongaro, her life and solidarity activities. With historian and researcher Wilma Burba.
On November 25th: “A tavola con il Risorgimento”, a book about the relationship between Italian cuisine and Italian people. With authors Elma Schena and Adriano Ravera.
On December 2nd: “La donazione Canonica a Stresa, lo scultore e il suo tempo”, Pietro Canonica's life, travels, works in European courts. With Gianluca Kannès and Bianca Santese.
On January 27th: “La Storia di Sissel“, theatre show. With the ensemble “E… dizione straordinaria", piano player Romano Ricca and violinist Giuliano Crivelli.
On February 17th: “Notizie dai teatri operativi”, a story about Italian fronts abroad: Kosovo, Lebanon, Afghanistan and Libya. With Lieutenant Colonel Roberto Lanni and authors Lorenza Radaelli and Monica Mazza.
On March 2nd at 10,30 am in the congress-palace of Stresa: “Quale futuro per i nostri giovani?”, a discussion about the situation of young people during the economic and social crisis in Italy. With students of high schools and Mario Calabresi, “La Stampa” Director.
On March 16th: “Riflessioni e spunti dalla crisi economica e finanziaria globale”, considerations and remarks about world economic crisis. With Giuseppe Tantazzi, “Banca d’Italia” General Director - Genoa Branch.

Thermal baths and wellness in the valleys of the territory “Distretto Turistico”: a place, called Ossola, where one can find both mind and body complete balance thanks to beneficial power of nature water sources.

Let's think about Toce Waterfall, Formazza Valley with its spectacular, 143 meter high water jump, or nature and thermal sources in Antigorio Valley with Crodo Mineral Water as well as “Crodino” Drink, Bognanco Valley with Bognanco Mineral Water and Vigezzo Valley with Vigezzo Water streaming from the Val Grande National Park.
Historical thermal baths are rich there too, such as Bognanco Terme dating from 1862, 700 meter above Domodossola town centre; properties: treatment of stomach, liver, intestine and bile duct complaints. Crodo Terme are instead characterised by water good for care and prevention of illnesses of digestive system. The sources in Premia, Formazza Valley, are similar to Tabiano ones and are indicated for skin and breathing apparatus care.
