In Verbano region there are some interessant news for those who love practising Nordic Walking.
On the basis of a guide's project - Vittorio de Bon, manager of the "Interdisciplinary Walking School - in Cannero Riviera the Pro Loco has recently created 6 routes dedicated to the Nordic Walking discipline. The paths are well marked with signals and described by means of panels and maps. They are from 2 to 10 km long with a limited difference in height from 10 to 300 meters. Walks can last from 30 minutes to 2 hours. The point of departure can be the town of Cannero as well as some villages in the surroundings: Donego, Oggiogno, Cassino, Ronchè, Carmine Superiore and Carmine Inferiore. The classic circuit can also be extended to a high-flying route between Colle and Selletta Morissolo.
Nord Walking is a sport technique which consists in walking with the help of appropriate sticks. Because of its ease, everyone can practise it both in competitions and at amateur level to enjoy beneficial effects for the health.
The local council of Cannero, a picturesque hamlet that in 2009 gained for the fifth time consecutively the Blue Fleg acknowledgement for the cleanliness of its waters, aims to promote Nordic Walking as part of a general initiative of environmental protection and valorization of "green" ecological tourism.
