Come to Cannobio and discover marvellous treasures of Lake Maggiore by ferry!

What's better than a beautiful farry trip strolling around to find out touristic attractions of Lake Maggiore? Quite nothing... Infact the Cannobio Town Administration and the "Cannobio for you" Association have recently studied 4 different itineraries, each developing during a day per week, thanks to which visitors could admire magnificent sceneries very next to Cannero Castles, Brissago and Ascona Islands, Santa Caterina del Sasso Retreat as well as exciting sunsets just in the middle of the lake.
Ferries awill be ecological means of transport working through solar energy and offering 30 seats.
The programm is composed as following.
On Tuesdays, trip to Switzerland (ID document necessary for expatriation): departure at 9.30 in the morning from Cannobio; arrival on the Island of Brissago and visit to its famous bothanical gardens; departure towards Ascona, walk along its romantic road around the lake and possibility to have a happy hour there; return at 13.00 in Cannobio.
On Wednesdays, trip (lasting 1 hour) to the Castles of Cannero during sunset time: departure at 18.00; view of elegant residences on lake shores, anchent little ports, historical villas with gardens full of flowers along the stretch; arrival next to the Castles, some of the oldest fortified mansions realised by Borromeos in the territory of Lake Maggiore, which was mostly a property of the noble family; there a guide will explain the history of the castles as well as many legends wafting around them and concerning pirates' adventures, while drinking an aperitif served on board.
On Fridays, trip to the Santa Caterina del Sasso Retreat, an intimate refuge on the east coast of the lake (Lombardy) hanging on the rock: departure at 9.00 in the morning from Cannobio (1st/3rd Friday of the month) or Cannero Riviera (2nd/4th Friday of the month); arrival at 10.15 in Cerro and visit of the Pottery Museum; departure towards Santa Caterina del Sasso and visit of the church and convent while walking in the silence of a place where the time seems to have stopped several centuries ago; arrival to the romantic fisher hamlet Rocca of Caldé, lunch possibility in a typical restaurant with lakefish courses and walk to the ancient lime furnaces; return at 16.00.
On Sundays, trip to Borromeo Castles: departure at 11.45; along the shore visitors could observe a triumph of rare vegetal species such as decorative and fruit trees (f.e. orange-, lemon-, grapefruit- and prickly pear-trees) due to the favourite microclimate of Verbano region; a tourist guide will explain the origins of the castles and their probable future use as an etnographic museum, now under construction.
The excursions by ferry cost from 9 euro to 29 euro (prices vary on the basis of the chosen stretch). They start in via Magistris in Cannobio and must be reserved by 19.00 of the day preceding the trip, with a minimum number of 20 participants.
