Come and visit the Borromeo Islands!

On March 26th 2011 the official beginning of a new Lake Maggiore Tourist Season took place together with the opening of its world wide known main attraction, the Borromeo Islands.

The elegant Borromeo botanical gardens and palaces in fact opened for their 2011 Spring-Summer Season.

On the islands the offer to the public is made of art and art again.
More than 2000 paintings and, first of all, the famous Picture Gallery („Galleria dei Quadri“ or General Berthier’s Gallery) in the Palace of the Isola Bella are waiting for you!
There you can find a real Lombard baroque museum rich in 130 important paintings collected by the Borromeo Family: from Leonardo’s Followers to the Baroque itself through wonderful copies of artists’ works of art such as Raffaello, Correggio, Tiziano and Guido Reni.
Among the others don’t fail to see Bergognone, Boltraffio, Giampietrino, Paris Bordon and Procaccini’s masterpieces too.
The Gallery was visited also from Princes Charles and Diana from Wales in the past.

Not only. On the Isola Bella the beautiful baroque Ss. Carlo and Vittore Church can’t be missed.
Otherwise come to the Isola Pescatori and discover its many hotels and restaurants in a nice fishers’ hamlet. They will be ready to offer to you their special menus based on lake fish dishes for a romantic stay or simply an amazing night.
