Art in quarries is back with “Tones on the stones” 2010

“Tones on the Stones” is back from June 26 on for the 4th year consecutively in our territory. The art project planned by Maddalena Calderoni deals with a series of concerts, theatre and dancing shows performed in extraordinary natural locations, the quarries of VCO district, being so much able to inspire artists' creativity. With their colours and shapes, stones will be in fact essential part of shows with their special effects.
The 2010 edition will open on Saturday, June 26 at 22.00 in the Quarry of Montorfano, in the surroundings of Mergozzo, with an unique preview: the absolute first performance of the work “Ballata per il popolo delle cave” by Atelier Association “La Voce dell’Arte”. On the basis of Ramberto Ciammarughi’s texts and musics the adventure of so called “Picasass”, that is the ancient Piedmontese quarry workers whose activity strongly charactrerised peopke’s way of life in the past, will be narrated by using videos and Andrea Longhi’s coreographies. On July 17 at 22 William Shakespear’s “Macbeth” will be performed in the granite quarry Sempione of Varzo by Le Belle Bandiere Company with Elena Bucci’s production. On July 23 at 22 in the quarry Pianasca Domo Graniti of Villadossola there will be the concert of Newyorker important bass player Marcus Miller, who will execute the 80’s black music songs listed under the name “Tutu Revisited - The Music of Miles Davis”. On July 31 at 22 the quarry Palissandro Marmi of Crevoladossola will host the spectacle “Fuego gitano: pasion y muerte. La vera storia di Carmen” by Stefano Monti: from Mérimée’s novel to Bizet’s work, Carmen’s story will be told by means of music, theatre scenes and ballets. Gian Marco Tognazzi will be on stage, Maddalena Calderoni, Gustavo Porta and Emilio Martucci will offer their voices, the ensemble “I virtuosi italiani” and Ursula Lopez with her flamenco group will finally complete the staff.
The cost of each show varies from 15 to 30 euro; possibility of subscription for all spectacles from June 26 to July 31 at the price of 70 euro and from July 17 to 31 at the price of 60 euro.
