In spring enjoy the natural beauty of this floreal balcony on Lake Maggiore!
The Alpinia Botanical Garden, situated on the hills surrounding Stresa and Lake Maggiore and instituted in 1934 by Igino Ambrosiani and Giuseppe Rossi, offers an unforgettable view to the Borromeo Gulf. In a surface of 40.000 square meters, it contains several botanical species coming from the Alps and the Caucasus (birches, willows, myosotis, maples, etc.), which can be admired along a beautiful itinerary on the east side.
During the opening season, the staff of the park is planning some theorical and practical "lessons" to teach the participants about botanical themes and let them live in strict contact with nature for a while. Moreover, some guided tours will be organised in occasion of important cultural events such as the Settimane Musicali of Stresa, the exhibition Editoria e Giardini and the Symposiums Rosminiani.
The Alpinia Garden is open everyday from April to October, from 9.30 to 18.00. Visitors can reach it on foot following the path from Stresa through Someraro and Levo or by the comfortable cableway which colleagues the city of Stresa and Mount Mottarone (1491 m).
